2018 - Daily tours, (except for the 16th May) from the 11th – 21st May. We must have a minimum of 4 adults for the tag-along tours or 3 adults for the escorted tours for the tours to go ahead each day. Maximum eleven 4wd’s each day (including our tour guides 4wd).
This is a rare opportunity to experience guided tag-along and escorted tours to one of the very few working dinosaur dig sites in Australia. Our tour guide, will drive the leading 4wd and will escort you in your own 4wd from the ENHM workshop out through the ancient landscapes of the McGregor Range. You will drive back in time 40 million years as you drive down the McGregor Range jump up into landscapes the Eromanga dinosaurs roamed 90-95 million year ago.
When you arrive at the dig site you will be introduced to the dig team, followed by a short site induction and lunch under the field marquee.
After lunch watch the dig team uncover bones from some of Australia’s largest dinosaurs. You will arrive back at the ENHM at about 5pm.
-Tag-along or escorted drive through the scenic McGregor Range into dinosaur country
-Stop at the Native wells for a photo opportunity and interpretation
-Drive through a private pastoral property, owned by the Mackenzie family for 4 generations. This property is run as a fully -certified organic beef and wool rural enterprise.
-Guided tour to a working dinosaur dig site
-Meet the dig team, including the ENHM Field Palaeontologist and Geologist.
-Lunch at the dig site
-Interpretation of the dig site by dig team members
-Watching the team work in the dig pit from the dig site observation area. Seats and shade provided.
-Bush toilets, non-flushing (the ‘long drop’) available
