The Victorian Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Major Events and Regional Victoria, Danielle Green says the new $3.85 million Swan Hill Heartbeat of the Murray Experience project is a fantastic example of the State and Federal Government working together with local organisations, councils and communities to deliver outstanding outcomes for regional Victoria.
Launching the Heartbeat of the Murray Experience at Swan Hill Danielle Green said:
"The development of the Heartbeat of the Murray Experience will instil local residents with pride in their city and contribute to ongoing economic growth and job creation."
The Heartbeat of the Murray is a new night-time entertainment experience on the banks of the Little Murray which uses water and laser lighting to recreate stories from the Murray River region.
The project will also use digital reality to breathe life into existing displays.
Visitors will be able to use their smartphones and devices to visually interpret the lives and experiences of our pioneers as they tour the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement's buildings and machinery.
The Heartbeat of the Murray Experience will help to increase the numbers of visitors to Swan Hill, and deliver new economic development opportunities for businesses in the area.
Upgrades to existing infrastructure, including the Paragon Cafe and Lower Murray Inn have also been completed as part of this project.
Tourism is a significant industry in Swan Hill, employing about 5 per cent of the local workforce.
The Victorian government says investment in key infrastructure projects, will put rural and regional communities back at the heart of the state's economy.
