Neville Passmores seminars in the Green Room at Melbourne Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow included how campers can grow their own greens while they are on the road.
Neville and his partner like quality crunch with their salads and this is achieved with a mini version of a GreenWall vertical garden. This brings healthy camper-grown greens into the travelling diet.
The greens are sprouted from seeds in portable growing containers in about 28 days.
This means the nutritional additions to the travellers diet ranges across sprouting seeds from alfafa to chive and onion flavours.
Alfalfa is high in vitamins A and C, niacin, riboflavin, folic acid, and the minerals calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium.
Alfalfa also contains bioflavonoids.
Herbalists often recommend alfalfa preparations as a potent nutritive in cases of malnutrition, debility, and prolonged illness.
Sprouts are a tasty addition to many dishes, and the leaves and tiny blossoms are used for herbal remedies.
There is a packaged kit which includes nutrient for the plants which is added to about 5 litres of water to create the growing mixture.
The result is an easy to maintain, portable greens garden.
Nevilles seminars were in two parts.
The first deals with fittings and products which help with less water being used to produce more gardens with better, healthier plants.
Dedicated rose growers will be interested in products which extend strong blooming with clever water control.
Garden expert Neville has practical experience with handling the demanding Western Australian climate.
