Ayr Sailean Chalets, Camping and Cottages is located between the Bow Bridge and Kent River on Hwy 1, midway between Denmark (35km) and Walpole (30km), in the heart of the Walpole Wilderness in Western Australia.
It is backed by State Forest, National Parks and just 15 minutes from the Tree Top Walk and Valley of the Giants, and Peaceful Bay.
GSA agrees. The Valley of the Giants is well named. The Tingle trees are massive and they are only in the area around the Tree Top Walk. The walk gets up to 40m in the top of the trees. Down on the ground is the Ancient Empire Walk which winds around and sometimes through giant trees. Some of the trees seem to have weird faces, like something from a fairy tale. GSA took pictures of one which seemed to be trying to talk.
Only 3km east of Walpole there is a tingle tree which is thought to be more than 450 years old.
It is the fattest eucalypt tree in the world as it has a big stomach which measures 24m around the trunk.
The accommodation options at Ayr Sailean Chalets, Camping and Cottages include Chalets, Cabins and Camping sites overlooking the South Coast Wilderness to the Irwin Inlet or tranquil rural views. Linen is provided in all accommodation.

Studio Spa Chalets:
These chalets have been designed especially with country luxury in mind, and of enjoyment of the view and their setting in amongst granite boulders and native bush in a quiet rural aspect on the farm. They provide a quiet haven where guests can get away from it all and enjoy the special treats included.
The bathroom has been designed to cater for the disabled, with large double doors to the toilet and open plan shower.
Most wheelchair users are also able to use the spa.
Wool Cottage is the original homestead of the working farm having been built in the 1930s but it is fully renovated to include a new bathroom and kitchen. The three bedrooms can sleep up to a maximum of nine people. A short walk from here takes guests to the main paddocks of the farm where sheep and alpacas can be seen, and in the evenings and early mornings many kangaroos can be seen grazing as well. Occasionally the emu flock also joins in.
These single room units adjacent to the Ayr Sailean Camping Ground are ideal for couples or small families who want that camping experience without the tent. Equipped with a double and two single beds, fridge and table and chairs, these units are a great alternative for those on a budget. Units have all linen and towelling included.
Located between granite rocks and native bush in a sheltered location on the working farm, the park offers 26 powered sites and 10 unpowered sites with a large Camp Kitchen and Ablution Block.
